Welcome to the Mountains of North Carolina.
Over the years the wondrous world of Nature that surrounds us has inspired me to put my thoughts and faith into my lifelong dream of writing. As well, I wanted to write about issues that were very important to me. My poetry and my book, All Things, reflect my surroundings and these issues. As I look out over the hills and valleys I recall the life I saw among our people sixty some years ago as I visited my grandfather here in these mountains. It was a simpler life that drew its culture from the rugged past of our ancestors as they forged upward into the high country into these hollows and ridges.
When I close my eyes and meditate on the sounds of nature, I can often imagine hearing the creak of the wagon wheels, clang of the pots and pans and cow bells, the old ballads and folk songs they sang as the settlers journeyed onward to build this special land.
Time has changed more gently here in the mountains and remote areas of this land than it has in more urban areas. We would like to preserve those ways so our children will remember them.
As I sit at my computer writing my poetry and stories, I strive to bring forth the sense of this land and our faith so that every reader may feel the strength within each one of us that keeps us attached to this land.
In All Things, an inspiring look into the life of a young girl that will touch your heart, I was compelled to write of the many happenings in the world around us. I wanted to tell the story of those young girls caught between the pages of our society. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed telling it.
